FSC Netherlands celebrated the 10th anniversary of their foundation with close to 200 representatives from NGOs, businesses and government at an event in The Hague on 26 November 2009.
© FSC NederlandHighlights of the event included presentation of the FSC Award 2009 to the Het Financieele Dagblad for their commitment to FSC and the issuance of Netherlands’1000th Chain of Custody (CoC) certificate to the Dutch construction company Aannemingsbedrijf Draisma B.V.
Distinguished speakers presented at the event. Scott Poynton from the Tropical Forest Trust addressed the audience with a presentation on the past, present and future of FSC. Nico Roozen, founder of Max Havelaar coffee and Director of fair trade organization Solidaridad, compared Max Havelaar and FSC underlining the lessons learned from the FSC certification scheme. Ruth Nussbaum, Director of ProForest, highlighted FSC’s achievements and future challenges.
Astronaut and WWF ambassador Andre Kuipers congratulated FSC for their achievements in a video message. Celebrations took place at De Kookfabriek, a trendy venue for cookery workshops in The Hague, Netherlands where participants had the chance to cook their meals together with Dutch celebrity chef Pierre Wind.
